One of the many things that was interrupted by Covid was Messy Church. Messy Church is aimed at children and their families, although is fun for all ages, and involves crafts and creativity, celebration and food. For more information about what Messy Church is about do check out their website: https://www.messychurch.org.uk.
Within the parish Messy Church had been run a number of times successfully and was something that had also been run successfully at Christ Church with St Philip as well. Because of this, when it came time to talk about restarting, it seemed to make sense to see if we could work on this as a group project. By working as a group across the three parishes we could share ideas, resources and people.
What started as conversations just a month ago is now becoming reality as our first Messy Church back is happening on Saturday at St Oswalds church. It has been planned and put together by people across all five churches in the group and we have people from across the churches helping on the day as well. While we don’t know how many people will come yet or how the afternoon will go - we do know that it has already shown how much we can achieve working together and shows how willing many people are to work together across parish boundaries.
Please do pray for us on Saturday that the service goes well, that people come and that all of the logistics run smoothly.
If you would like to come along and bring your kids or grandkids, or if you know anyone who would like to come we have limited space so we are advising people to book tickets which can be booked here:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/messy-church-tickets-276521101057
And if you would like to be involved in anyway with future Messy church events please do contact Hannah (hannah@cheamparish.org.uk) and she will add you to the Messy church mailing list.
