Lent Groups

Lent - the weeks leading up to our celebration of Easter - is a time for reflection as we prepare to celebrate this great festival and mark the events that lead up to it.

This year, our Lent groups will be thinking about the place of the Holy land in our faith. We will be using Rivers Through The Desert as a starting point for our time together. Written by Richard Sewell, the Dean of St George's College in Jerusalem and a former vicar in our own Diocese of Southwark, the sessions include videos, bible readings and questions for us to consider together.

There will be two groups:

  • An online group on Monday evenings at 7.30pm starting on 27th February. Please contact the Parish Office for the login details for Zoom (office@cheamparish.org.uk). The last of these sessions will be in person at St Oswald's Church on 3rd April.

  • A group that will form part of the regular 11am Eucharist on Wednesday mornings, starting on 1st March. This will take a different format to usual. We will meet in St Dunstan's Hall and use a simple service. We will watch the videos and listen to the readings as part of the service before reflecting on the questions over tea and coffee.
