Ash Wednesday - 22nd February

Lent, the church's season of prayer and reflection that leads up to Easter, begins with Ash Wednesday on 22nd February. Our two services on this day will involve the imposition of ashes. The priest makes a sign of the cross on our foreheads with ash, like the picture below. Ash has long been a symbol of repentance. The cross reminds us that in Lent we journey towards Jesus' crucifixion on Good Friday.
