Children and Young People in the Parish of Cheam

This is a brief guide to all the different activities that our Parish offers for children and young people.

All of our three churches (St Alban’s, St Dunstan’s and St Oswald’s) have a broad variety of activities for Children & Young People. All those who work with Children & Young People have been CRB checked and the Parish has a written Safeguarding Policy.

Each Church has a Junior Church (Sunday School) which operates during the main Sunday Service, but Children & Young People are welcome to join in the worship if they wish.

Further information about the Children & Young People’s work can be obtained by contacting us here.

What follows is a guide to the activities available in each of the churches, and Parish wide groups.

Sunday Mornings at St Dunstans

0-4 years old  9.30 Parish Mass (All ages) & Crèche (1 to 4 year olds)

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the Parish Mass on Sunday mornings and we are happy for them to be part of the service. We have play bags available with soft toys and colouring books, as well as a good variety of Christian reading books.

Crèche: The crèche is based in the Choir Vestry, round the back of the church (the sidespeople can give you directions) and is run by a rota system of fourteen parent volunteers who have all been CRB checked. However, should any parents wish to stay with their children they are more than welcome to join in the fun.

On arrival, each child’s name must be entered in the singing-in book in the crèche and signed out at collection. Children must be signed in and out by the same person. The crèche runs from 9.30 until approximately 10.20 at which time each child may be taken to join in the main service and receive a blessing. The crèche is limited to ten children per service, for an age group of 1 to 4 years. All the toys and activities have recently been renewed to make playtime more fun.
